The Matsumoto City Museum of Art is one of various museums that represent Matsumoto as an ‘academic city’. Since opening is April of 2002, various works of art created by multiple artists have been exhibited in the museum. It is a museum rooted in the community that strives to serve as a place for appreciation, expression, and learning.
As the birthplace of the world famous Yayoi Kusama, the museum also centrally displays some of her works.
